In the heart of Dresden’s historic Old Town, on the historic Weiße Gasse, a new chapter is beginning for a well-known restaurant. The former Förster’s has become the Esszimmer a place that preserves what is familiar while also creating space for something new.
For many years, Weiße Gasse has been one of the top dining destinations in downtown Dresden. Just a few steps from the Altmarkt, history, vibrant city life, and a diverse restaurant scene come together here. It is precisely in this setting that the Esszimmer aims to carve out its own niche: as a restaurant for Dresden residents as well as for visitors to the city who are looking for good food in a relaxed atmosphere.
Tried-and-true meets new ideas
Following the acquisition by a new owner, the restaurant underwent a conceptual evolution. The goal was not to leave everything familiar behind. Rather, the existing restaurant was transformed into a new concept with its own distinctive style, fresh touches, and a clear culinary focus.
The focus is on a cuisine that combines culinary craftsmanship with carefully selected dishes and influences from Austria and Switzerland. Classics and familiar flavors form the foundation just as much as contemporary interpretations and new ideas.
Tradition shouldn't be artificially reinvented in the dining room. What really matters is bringing high-quality ingredients to the table through skilled craftsmanship and serving dishes that seem simple yet are prepared with attention to detail.
