Austrian & Swiss Cuisine in the Heart of Dresden

29. August 2026

A Taste of the Alps in the Old Town – Austria and Switzerland Visit Dresden

Hearty classics, authentic craftsmanship, and dishes that don’t feel the need to follow every culinary trend: The cuisines of Austria and Switzerland embody a food culture that has been bringing people together around the table for generations. At the Esszimmer in Dresden’s Old Town, we embrace this very spirit and blend select influences from the Alpine region with contemporary restaurant cuisine.

It's not about reinventing tradition. Rather, we want to preserve what has always set good cuisine apart: high-quality ingredients, careful preparation, and dishes where flavor takes center stage.

A Kitchen with Character

Austrian and Swiss cuisine is far more diverse than the well-known classics might initially suggest. Regional traditions, varied landscapes, and centuries-old influences have given rise to a culinary culture that ranges from down-to-earth and hearty to refined and surprising.

It is precisely this blend that gives it its special charm. Familiar flavors meet artisanal preparation and dishes that don't have to be complicated to leave a lasting impression.

In the dining room, too, this philosophy plays a key role in our culinary approach. Classic dishes and traditional influences retain their original character while being presented on the plate with our own distinctive touch.

Tradition can be contemporary

To us, good traditional cuisine doesn't mean that everything has to look and taste the same as it did decades ago. It can evolve without losing its roots.

Modern presentation, carefully selected ingredients, and a thoughtful approach to classic recipes create room for innovation while preserving the essentials. The result is a cuisine that feels familiar yet retains its own distinct character.

The focus is always on the product. After all, what matters in the end isn't the number of ingredients on a plate, but how well they work together.

Austria and Switzerland in the Heart of Dresden

You don't always have to go to the mountains to enjoy Alpine cuisine. Right in the heart of Dresden's historic Old Town, we want to give you a taste of this culinary culture.

The dining room is located on Weiße Gasse, just a few steps from the Altmarkt. Nestled among historic buildings and the lively bustle of the city center, our restaurant offers guests a combination of great food and a relaxed, personal atmosphere.

Whether it’s dinner with friends, a meal with family, or a culinary stop during a day in Dresden—for us, one thing takes center stage above all else: having a good time at the table.

Good food doesn't need many words

Perhaps that, in the end, is what makes Austrian and Swiss cuisine so wonderful. Many of their dishes don’t try to explain why they’re good. They thrive on quality ingredients, skillful preparation, and flavors that you’re happy to find on your plate again and again.

That's exactly what we want our dining room to represent.

Discover Austrian and Swiss influences right in the heart of Dresden’s Old Town. We look forward to welcoming you to the Esszimmer on Weiße Gasse.
